The Superior Group serves this global financial services firm’s midwest hub in central Ohio, providing build, maintenance, and upgrade services for the electrical infrastructure at several critical areas and sites.
Beginning with work in the 1970s, when the facilities were owned by a predecessor bank, The Superior Group has completed over $30M of work at these data centers. Most recently, we have completed several million dollars of upgrades and are in the process of completing a full infrastructure upgrade while the Tier III+ facility remains in operation.
In 2007, The Superior Group was awarded a strategic partner award by this client for assisting them in changing the way they protect customers’ data.

This project began in early 2018 and wrapped up in the spring of 2020. The Superior Group performed the entire electrical scope of work, complete power distribution and branch power systems, the entire lighting scope of work, lighting controls, fire alarm systems, technology raceways, cable tray, access control, and CCTV scopes of work, as well as the nurse call system. During peak operations, there were roughly 80 Superior Group team members on site, teaming up with general contractor; Turner Construction. A unique aspect of this project was the installation of specialty light fixtures that had to be tamper resistant and hospital grade fixtures, and were custom built for this specific site.
The Behavior Health pavilion is nine stories tall and covers 386,000 square feet, featuring a 24/7 psychiatric crisis care service available to children experiencing mental or behavioral health crises. To date, the Big Lots Pavilion is the largest center in America on a pediatric medical campus dedicated exclusively to child and adolescent behavioral and mental health.

The Nationwide Children’s Hospital Central Energy Plant is the power center for the existing and replacement hospital. It serves as the main chiller and boiler plant for the hospital campus. This complex project was awarded to The Superior Group under a design assist contract, and we have been able to generate significant value in pre-construction value analysis, field research, and planning. The project showcases our firm’s ability to manage critical power systems and complex phasing requirements as we ready a new energy plant while maintaining permanent power in an operating hospital environment.

The new SRMC is a state of the art 470,000 ft2 hospital completed by Chapel Superior LLC, a healthcare joint venture. The project is a perfect example of how the Design Assist process, when utilized effectively, can not only create cost savings but accelerate the schedule of a job. Our firm was able to re-layout the power distribution system, running most feeders underground to save significant funds and move this critical rough-in activity off of the critical path and ahead in the schedule.
This project included a $2.8M technology package to support the new medical facilities. The package included all voice/data/video cabling, multiple sound systems, nurse call, public address, security, CCTV, infant abduction, and patient protection systems.

Entertainment & Gaming facilities are a unique combination of complex power distribution, aesthetic considerations, and complicated specialty systems and controls. Our experience includes luxury gaming, performance, and sports venues. The Superior Group was awarded the entire electrical and technology scope of work; consisting of stadium lighting, communications, access control, security, fire alarm, and audio visual systems for the entire facility. Ground work for this job began in fall of 2018. With a peak of 105 field personnel on-site, and a $28 million budget, the project is a bold addition to the community at a significant in scale. The innovative layout is diverse in comparison to many other stadium concepts from both a contractor and spectator’s perspective. The new stadium can host 20,000 spectators, with 10 Field Suites, 33 Premium Suites, and includes a beer garden.
An exciting and progressive element of The Superior Group’s involvement on the jobsite at Crew Stadium has been our participation with MBE; Minority Business Enterprise. We were able to partner with the City of Columbus and Turner Construction to engage with diverse vendors and subcontractors in a meaningful way.

The Hollywood Casino was the first major gaming project in the Central Ohio area. The Superior Group was awarded all Electrical and Technology packages for the project, including site electric, casino electric, voice/ data, CCTV, fire alarm, and access control.

The facility is located right outside of downtown Columbus in the same building that housed the original operation since 1928. Today the plant manufactures a variety of Private Label products including pan breads, buns/rolls, donuts, crackers, cookies, tortilla chips, corn chips, extruded corn snacks, and popcorn. In 2012, TSG performed a major upgrade to one of the plant’s main packaging lines.

The Superior Group performed significant upgrades to the electrical system of this critical City of Columbus drinking water process facility. Plant-wide upgrades supported existing operations as well as a new Lime Sludge Control House, Coagulation Sludge Control House, and Sludge Pump Station. The work was performed in a fully-operational plant supplying water to City customers. Thorough planning and coordination was necessary to minimize disruptions to plant operations.

The Superior Group team completed an ambitious upgrade of the electrical systems at the Jackson Pike Waste Water Treatment Plant.
Our team served as the GC and Electrical Contractor on the project responsible for construction of new equipment buildings, a process piping airline, and environmental disposal. The electrical portion of the project included replacement of 16 substation transformers over two years. The project was completed in an operating critical environment without disruption to the City of Columbus.
The Superior Group has completed numerous other projects at the facility, including a project that received a 2004 BX Craftsmanship Award.
